Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Policy Analyst to join our team in Sharjah, focusing on the agriculture sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing, developing, and implementing policies that enhance agricultural productivity, sustainability, and food security in the region. This position requires a combination of analytical expertise, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of agricultural practices and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy Analysis and Development:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of agricultural policies, trends, and best practices on a local, regional, and global scale.
- Identify policy gaps and propose evidence-based recommendations to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, to formulate and refine agricultural policies.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with farmers, agricultural organizations, and community groups to gather insights and feedback on policy initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, and discussions to promote awareness and understanding of agricultural policies and their implications.
3. Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to agricultural production, market trends, and environmental impacts.
- Prepare detailed reports, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and external audiences to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of agricultural policies and programs.
- Review and analyze the outcomes of implemented policies, providing recommendations for adjustments and improvements.
5. Advocacy and Communication:
- Advocate for policy changes at local and national levels to support sustainable agricultural practices and food security initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of communication materials, including newsletters, articles, and social media content, to promote policy initiatives and successes.
6. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including environmental specialists, economists, and agricultural experts, to ensure a comprehensive approach to policy development.
- Mentor and support junior analysts and interns, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 8 years of relevant experience in policy analysis, particularly within the agriculture sector.
- Strong understanding of agricultural practices, sustainability issues, and food security challenges.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable policy recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and collaborative policy development processes.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools is an advantage.
