Job Details
The Children & Family Service has completed a service redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. The Early Help and Support Teams for Children Affected by Disability will deliver a range of earlier intervention services to children in need. As part of this offering families will have access to support workers based within the team but working out with normal office hours to enhance the support to families in need
Key tasks include:
• Providing individualised support to children and young people with physical, learning, sensory, developmental disabilities, and neurodivergence.
• Supporting children and young people with daily living activities in a respectful and dignified manner.
• Promoting children’s independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
• Assist with and encourage play, learning, and developmental activities appropriate to the child’s age and abilities.
• Support children and young people to access community activities and outings safely.
• Follow and implement care plans, support plans, and risk assessments.
• Use positive behaviour support strategies to respond to emotional or behavioural needs.
• Communicate effectively with children using appropriate methods (eg visual aids, PECS)
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals
• Maintain accurate daily records in line with organisational policies
