Description
The Social Worker will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing best practice care and treatment for young people and adults who require inpatient treatment for an eating disorder. As the Social Worker at Riverdale, you will be expected to carry out the outlined duties, treating with respect the individuals and families you work with.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a social work service for adolescents and adults with eating disorders. They will work with patients and carers in a safe and supportive way, aiming to facilitate recovery and transition from an in-patient environment by being pragmatic in approach and identifying practical ways in which they can support treatment progression and recovery.
They will take a leading role with carers, ensuring communication and collaboration is integral to practice. More specifically this will involve facilitating the carers programme and adherence to the carers pathway.
The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and training to colleagues regarding safeguarding, capacity and consent, best interests decision making, social care issues.

Core Responsibilities
To provide specialist treatment toadult and adolescent patients within the inpatient, hospital setting of Riverdale Grange.
To provide clear and informative summaries detailing progress and recommendations regarding future intervention for monthly CPA review meetings.
To contribute to MDT meetings (ward rounds) to help formulate clinical decision making.
To facilitate joint sessions with families and CAMHS/Adult professionals and/or the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure collaborative working and smooth handover from inpatient services to community services.
To work in ways that meet the needs ofpeople from diverse racial, cultural, religious, sexual and different backgrounds and lifestyles.
To plan and prioritise their own workload, working autonomously and independently in day-to-day practice, whilst coordinating and collaborating with team members and colleagues in other agencies.
To chair multi-professional/multi-agency/best interest meetings as required.
To provide supervision and guidance to colleagues regarding social care and safeguarding issues.
To liaise with local safeguarding teams were indicated
To support the hospital wide trainingprogramme by facilitating face to face Safeguarding training;
Mental Health Actand Mental Capacity Act training.
To participate in service development and improvement, particularly in response to patient/carer feedback.
To participate in the development andaudit of care pathways, particularly those concerning families and carers.
Knowledge, training and experience
Honours or post graduate degree in Social Work or equivalent (approved by the regulator, Social Work England)
To be an accredited member of Social Work England
The ability to engage and understand young people, adult patients and their families and provide the required support.
To be ableto integrate current systemic approaches with the evidence-based methodologies of treatments.
Ability tomake highly skilled evaluations and informed decisions about treatment and withinthe context of complex relationship factors.
To be ableto attend to and regulate highly expressed emotion within patient/family sessions and work positively in a difficult and challenging environment.
Ability touse outcome measures and session evaluation measures collaboratively with patients and families.
Demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity issues and put this knowledge into practice in the workplace.
Sound knowledge and awareness of safeguarding issues for adults and children and young people; ability to identify when to follow Hospital policyand procedure in raising these issues and referring to other services.
Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage own time.
Post-qualification experience of working with children and young peoplein a mental health service.
Post-qualification experience of working in a clinical setting with people with eating disorders.
Post-qualification experience of working with people who self-harm
Knowledge and experience of working with mental health difficulties in young people andadults.
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience of multi-agency working.
To have an awareness of treatment for eating disorders; FT-AN or FBT in an inpatient setting.
To provide systemic family work, drawing upon current and up to date theoretical models.
